Description
A clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic sharp, sweet odor. It is an ester of acrylic acid and 2-ethylhexanol.
Uses
Primary monomer for pressure-sensitive adhesives (tapes, labels), textiles, leather finishing, and as a co-monomer in latex paints and paper coatings.
Benefits
Provides excellent low-temperature flexibility and water resistance.
Safety, Compliance & Notes
| Thermal Conductivity | – |
| Electrical Conductivity | 0.004 |
| Heat of Formation | 495.4 |
| Heat of Vaporization | -495.4 |
| Structure | (CH_{2}=CHCOOCH_{2}CH(C_{2}H_{5})C_{4}H_{9}) |
| CAS Number | 103-11-7. |
| EINECS Number | 203-080-7. |
| Storage & Packaging | Recommendations: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area. Critical: Must be stored under air (not nitrogen) because the polymerization inhibitor (usually MEHQ) requires oxygen to function.Packaging: 180kg steel drums, IBCs, or stainless steel ISO tanks. |
| Product Stewardship | 2-EHA is toxic to aquatic life. Ensure spills are contained and prevented from entering waterways. |
| Note | Keep storage temperatures below 35°C to prevent premature polymerization. The shelf life is typically 6 to 12 months when stored with adequate inhibitor levels. |
| Notice | This profile reflects industrial standards for 2026. Always refer to the Specific Manufacturer’s SDS for precise technical limits and safety protocols. |
