Description
AMA is a specialty ester used primarily to introduce “latent” reactivity into polymers. The two double bonds react at different rates, allowing for controlled cross-linking during or after the initial polymerization process.
Uses
Used in the production of acrylic resins to improve solvent resistance, heat resistance, and hardness. Used in the manufacture of high-quality plastic lenses (contact lenses and spectacle lenses) to ensure dimensional stability.
Benefits
Benefit: Its differential reactivity allows for the production of “graft” polymers where a secondary chain can be grown from the allyl site.

| Storage & Packaging | Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. It is sensitive to light and heat. Containers should be kept tightly closed and checked regularly for inhibitor levels. Packaging: Typically available in 200L polyethylene-lined steel drums, IBCs, or specialized stainless steel ISO tanks. |
| Product Stewardship | Product Stewardship: Workers should use full PPE, including respiratory protection (organic vapor cartridges) and nitrile gloves. Environmental release must be prevented as it is toxic to aquatic life. |
| Note | AMA should always be handled in a closed system or under high-efficiency local exhaust ventilation due to its strong odor and toxicity. |
| Notice | This data sheet is for informational purposes. Users must refer to the manufacturer’s specific Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for precise handling instructions and regulatory compliance in their specific region. |
